Railway employers are legally obliged to ensure those personnel whose duties require them to work On or Near the Line and/or undertake Safety Critical Work are medically fit, which includes screening for the presence of alcohol and drugs.
Our team of collection officers are trained and experienced in providing these services to ensure the 'Chain of Custody' process is robust. Specimens of breath and urine are taken for the majority of screenings, although other methods are available including the taking of specimens of blood and hair.
Our screening services are robustly supported by the established ESG Laboratories who process and analyse the collected samples.
Screening can be undertaken at the client's premises or from one of our medical centres.
